Design and Implement Structures Civil

Engineers

The program aims basically to bridge the existing gap between theoretical education at Jordan universities and field work, and to help senior students and fresh graduates involve directly into jobs at Jordan market. The program was designed to cover wide range of civil engineering topics to finally make the trainee familiar with different approaches in design and implement blueprints, quantity take off, prepare bill of quantities and different layouts for projects activities. The program consists of 100 training hours, 80 hours are inside the classroom and the other 20 are on-site. The trainer use different training methods to complete the course such as:

  • Presentations.
  • Brain Storming.
  • Focus Groups.
  • Work in pairs.
  • Home works and assignments.
  • Site training.

Targeted group

  • Civil engineering students who completed 120 hours and took Reinforced Concrete design course.
  • Fresh graduate civil engineers.

  • Design Concrete Structures: Design and draw full detailed blueprints, Requirements of all concerned parties to issue construction permit.
  • Implementation at Site: Different approaches to implement a building step by step, engineer responsibilities and how to avoid common mistakes.
  • Calculate Quantities: quantities take off for all civil and architecture items, and prepare BOQs.
  • Primavera P6: Main features of the program, assign activities, EPS, WBS, Layout methods.
  • Introduction to Tenders: General information about tenders and bidding process, how to analyze an offer.

The trainee should know the following:

  • Structural design for buildings from scratch to withstand vertical loads, and then draw all drawings via AutoCAD as per Jordan Engineers Association Requirements.
  • Read and understand engineering blueprints, both architecture and civil, and overview about mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Be familiar with the most common Jordan Engineers Association, Amman Greater Municipality and Civil Defence regarding issuing construction permit.
  • Draw shop drawings for different structural members.
  • Learn different techniques to implement buildings on the ground starting from earthwork up to finish the building.
  • Understand the engineering cycle and know the role for each stakeholder.
  • Know the engineer responsibilities weather he/she represents contractor, consultant or designer.
  • Study laboratory testing reports, and know which test should use for each item and when.
  • Know different communication process between the contractor and the supervision and which templates are better for usage.
  • Prepare full bill of quantities (both architecture and civil), and learn the way to calculate the quantity for each item.
  • Know how to prepare invoices and how to monitor cash flow.
  • Use Primavera P6 Program to assign project activities to specific WBS, and different layouts for the time frame.
  • Be familiar with tenders, major points about bidding analysis and know important rules.

  • Certificate of attendance: trainer should attend at least 80% of the course.
  • Certificate of Completion : at the end of this course there will be an exam where the trainer has to prepare all the plans for a given project, bill of quantity, pricing, Steps of ratification design and implementation report, its duration and quality. Its certified from the Academy and the Center of Accreditation and Quality Assurance, Ministry of Labor.
  • Recommendation certificate: based on the trainer deigns in exam he/she will be marked & ranked according to his/her design of project , BOQ of project ,the duration and mechanism of implement the project ,…,etc. The recommendation also contains the trainee information, his behavior in the class, attendance, site report, trainer report and management report.
